Oct. 29, 2004 400 whp & 336 lb-ft torque at 22 psi on 93 octane pump gas

It's been well over a year since The Shuttle saw a dyno, so I guess an update is in order.  Since June 19, 2003, I drove The Shuttle on weekends and to various car shows, and generally enjoyed the car.. A LOT!.   It's been fast, fun, and, aside from the cylinder head problems discussed on the Summer 2004 mods page, very reliable.  So, a couple months ago, I drove up to Alamo to pull the head and decided to dyno the car so I'd have a "before head repair" snapshot of the power curve before correcting the head. Since the dyno runs of June 2003, I had upgraded the turbo with a slightly larger turbine housing, switching from the .63 to a .82 a/r housing.  So, I was interested to see how this change would affect power.  Needless to say, I was initially disappointed.  When I drove in, power at 1.5 bar was down considerabley at about 330 whp.  But, after some checking, I found the base distributor timing was incorrectly retarded 10 degrees.  My bad.  Once I corrected that, power retuned to the 400 whp level.  Unfortunately, the actual power curve was very jagged and certainly far from smooth.  But, considering the valve lash was all screwed-up and several of the intake valves NOT fully seating due to insufficient valve lash, I figured this was OK for now.
