(aka "The
Shuttle") The Shuttle's Engine Compartment Face-lift Continues! |
Updated: September 25, 2017 |
Summer 2000 - While the engine and trans are out of the car, I asked myself what else I can do to brighten up the engine compartment. I have already completely stripped and repainted the engine compartment. So, I figured the next step was to round-up all the various brackets, intake tubes, and brake and power-steering lines, and have them powder-coated, too. Here they are!

The Details:
All of the items were already out of the car, so it was merely a matter of cleaning them up, and having them sandblaster to remove all existing coatings. Both the brake and power steering lines had plastic outer coverings which required careful removal with a razor blade. I managed to keep all my fingers intact. Once all items were clean, I logged all items, tagging each with a number written to a piece of masking tape. Whenever you work with a large number of bizarre-looking parts, serializing each item on a list along with inventory checks when dropping-off or picking-up parts, will help ensure that none of the parts are misplaced or lost in the process.
Alkote, Inc. in Houston, Texas, is applying the powder-coat finish. Contact information is available on my Favorite Vendor page).
